We really go out on a limb for some of our goals. That’s a good thing! What’s even better is understanding where we are in the process. You have done great work to get where you are today. And for sure, some days were great and others…well, let’s just say they could have been a lot better. But the big thing to consider is that you are here now, between where you have been and where you are going. You’ve made it to this point, hit your stride, and you are In the Zone!
When you are in the zone, it’s time to…
Focus and find solutions to make the next best step towards achievement instead of defeat. It reminds me of a story that I read in the Book, Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill called, Three Feet from Gold. I love this story for so many reasons.
R.U. Darby’s uncle went out west in the gold rush days to dig for gold. With only a pick and shovel, he found the gold that he was looking for but realized that he needed mining machinery to get more. He covered up the mine, went back to his home in Maryland, and told his family and friends that he had struck gold. They put their money together and bought the needed equipment. Darby and his uncle went back to the mine to drill. They found more gold. Things were going well, and then something happened – the gold they tapped into stopped. They quit and sold the mining equipment to a “junk” man for a few hundred dollars.
“Whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.” – Henry Ford.
Darby and his uncle “desperately” drilled to find more gold but couldn’t, so they did what they thought was best. They gave up. They not only quit, but they also decided to be done, done. So they sold the mining machinery to a “junk” man.
Every WHY has a HOW, so…
We make the necessary sacrifices to live our dreams. And to us, those sacrifices are worth it. Why? Because they are opportunity makers. The mining equipment was a sacrifice to buy, but it also provided an opportunity to obtain more gold. The dedicated time you spend helping your children with their homework, the excellent service you give at work, the college tuition you pay, and the hard-earned money you put into your new business are all sacrifices and OPPORTUNITIES at the same time. But what do you do when you reach a point in the process when you realize that you have more skin in the game than success?
When Desire Meets Duty to Make a Difference
The “junk” man did something amazing! He realized that he needed help. He hired a mining engineer. The engineer’s calculations showed that Darby and his uncle quit 3 feet from the gold. He used the engineer’s advice and found millions of dollars in gold.
Instead of Expecting Less from our outcome, Expect More…
It’s worth it. Especially when we are In the Zone. We can be closer to reaching our goals than we think. Imagine That! All this time, we can be considering how far we are from living our dreams, but we could actually be CLOSE.
We Should Ask for Help if We Need it, Even if…
It may make us feel vulnerable. Asking for help doesn’t make us weak. It keeps us strong and paves our way forward to success!
Kudos to you for all of your efforts! Keep going…
